- W4285174823 abstract "Watching to the anomalies happening in the environment due to change in climate, it is sure that climate change and global warming is real. The current climatic variations and constant rise in global mean temperature affect the life on Earth in different ways. The increase in global mean temperature in turn produces rise in demand for Energy for thermal comfort in various sectors. This study focuses on impact of the rise in mean temperature on Electricity demand for thermal comfort across India’s different climatic zones. In a tropical country like India where cooling demand is relatively larger than heating demand, rise in mean temperature would definitely cause spike in overall as well as peak demand of electricity for cooling in future. Along with the mean temperature, socioeconomic factors are also considered for studying load demand across the climatic zones of India. Five representative states were considered for the study which are: Jammu & Kashmir, New Delhi, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Kerala. Electricity consumption of each state was studied with both climatic data and socioeconomic indices influencing them. The evidence from Indian states of different climatic zones in this study shows that the climate sensitivity of electricity demand in developing country like India is most likely to be sensitive to income growth in coming decades." @default.
