- W4285193045 abstract "Identification of genes responsible for complex traits using association mapping has always been a challenging task in crop improvement program. But now a days remarkable achievement in genomic technology as well as various suitable statistical approaches makes this job quite easier and affordable. Efforts have been concerted in assembling suitable mapping population from various diverse sources and dissecting the gene/quantitative trait loci (QTLs) of traits concerned either though genome-wide association studies (GWAS) or candidate gene mapping approach. Both of the approaches identify quantitative trait loci (QTLs) by examining the marker–trait associations based on the strength of linkage disequilibrium between markers and functional polymorphisms across a set of diverse germplasm. GWAS is now being an important part in genome assisted crop improvement by identifying noble marker–trait association. Still, challenges lie in detection of rare variants with small effect instead of ignoring during analysis which needs further improvement in computational efficiency and redesigning of statistical models." @default.
