- W4285193407 abstract "Crops are exposed to the environment and are able to adapt their development and physiology to multiple occurring stress types and events. “Priming”—exposing plants to moderate abiotic stress during vegetative growth in order to induce plant resistance to a severe stress episodes occurring during generative growth has improved stress tolerance within the same generation as well as between generations. This chapter presents our understanding of the complex physiological and molecular mechanisms involved in induced stress tolerance to abiotic stressors in crop plants with focus on both intra-generational and transgenerational mechanisms. Perspectives for further research are presented in order to understand the underlying mechanisms of stress priming for the application of priming effects in crop production." @default.
