- W4285201932 abstract "Electronic waste (e-waste) represents a fast-growing disposal scenario worldwide. The ever-increase in e-waste volume from electronic industries and households has been creating health and environmental concerns since this waste contains some toxic substances. Additionally, the shipment of toxic wastes has generated a huge public outcry. E-waste is the discarded electrical or electronic devices or equipment. Used electronics which are destined for refurbishment, reuse, resale, salvage recycling through material recovery, or disposal are also considered e-waste. Electronic scrap components, such as CPUs, contain potentially harmful materials such as lead, cadmium, beryllium, or brominated flame retardants. Recycling and disposal of e-waste involve significant risk to health and environment. E-waste is electronic products nearing the end of their useful life. Computers, televisions, VCRs, stereos, copiers, printers, cell phones and fax machines are common electronic products. Many of these products can be reused, refurbished, or recycled. This chapter highlighted various processes that are used in recycling e-waste and their and environmental and health concerns." @default.
