- W4285203924 abstract "In this study, a system including diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), catalytic diesel particulate filter (CDPF), and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) retrofitted in an old generation light-duty diesel engine was investigated on the engine test bench. The experiment focused on the brake power and fuel consumption, and other emission characteristics of the engine. The results showed that the retrofitted after-treatment system (RATS) had slightly affected the test engine's output power and fuel consumption, while the emission of carbon monoxide (CO), unburnt hydrocarbon (uHC), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter (PM) reduced considerably. Particularly, at full load conditions, NOx reduces 81.99% on average, and there is a reduction of 65.53% on average at a speed of 2200 rpm, and load varies. The smoke number reduces significantly to around 82.65% at full load and 77.08% at a constant speed of 2200 rpm. The emission levels of CO and HC decrease considerably at full load and as well as a partial load condition, in turn, 79.61% and 81.57% on average at full load and 67.65% and 70.62% at a speed of 2200 rpm. Overall, the experimental results show that the pollutant reduction level is significant at high load conditions compared to low and medium load because of the higher conversion efficiency of the effect of the RATS." @default.
