- W4285204530 abstract "Some studies published in the last decade have provided a substantial advance in the knowledge about the franciscana’s acoustic repertoire. The species produces narrowband high-frequency pulsed sounds, with a peak frequency at 130 kHz and no essential energy below 100 kHz. Social sounds such as burst pulses and whistles have been observed for the species, although the latter is rare. Data acquisition and analysis methods differ substantially between studies, making comparisons impossible. Recommendations on hydrophone sensitivity and sampling rate were made for future records of the species. Passive acoustic monitoring, whether fixed or towed, represents a promising tool for ecological studies and conservation of franciscanas." @default.
