- W4285208354 abstract "In recent decades, global geoscientists have conducted a great deal of research on the formation and evolution mechanism of the Tibetan Plateau in terms of geology, geophysics, geodesy and geochemistry. In 2003, the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences was established. We proposed and led the implementation of the Array Network of Tibetan International Lithospheric Observation and Probe Experiment (ANTILOPE) research Project. Under the general framework of this project, we have carried out systematic and comprehensive exploration and research in the basin-mountain-plateau of Western China and obtained massive geophysical observation data and significant research results. The ANTILOPE has three contributions to the geoscience: (1) The deep subduction of the Indian continent under the Tibetan Plateau has been proved by means of natural seismology, and the subduction depth. Angle and the east–west variation law have been determined. The collision boundary between India and Eurasia below the plateau was determined. This research further developed the theory of plate tectonics. (2) The deep fine structure of the basin and range system in Western China has been obtained by means of integrated geophysical methods. The contact relationship and activity law of the micro-landmass group in Northwest China has been revealed. (3) The synergistic evolution of the basin-mountain system and the Tibetan Plateau in western China is revealed by the earth system science method. The circles-layer coupling model of the deep earth processes restricting the surface topographic evolution and environmental change is established. The China Seismic Experimental Site (CSES) is located in the southeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau. The ANTILOPE provides the basis for the site selection of the CSES and the geodynamic background for the construction of the CSES." @default.
