- W4285228549 abstract "Biofilm formation is an evolutionary adaptation through which planktonic cells makes a barrier aginst the immediate environment. Biofim matrix is established by the secreted materials through bacterial membrane and the subsequent cell wall. This barrier often conditions the biofilm community to sustain hazards like inhibitory substances, antibiotics, etc. in its microenvironment. In this chapter, the physiology of bacterial biofilms will be examined with a case study in clinical isolates of Escherichia coli, a pathogenic organism with the potential ability to become a multidrug-resistant superbug. Previous studies indicated that there is significant involvement of the outer membrane proteome in the development of bacterial biofilms. Therefore, in this paper, a brief review on membrane proteins in the context of bacterial biofilms has also been attempted." @default.
