- W4285253267 abstract "Deafferentation due to spinal cord injury (SCI) alters the state of large cortical networks, and especially the changes within the sensorimotor cortex play a crucial role in the functional reorganization after SCI. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has shown to be a reliable tool to measure the plastic changes that occur in the human brain and, if delivered repetitively (repetitive TMS), can be used for modulation of plasticity also after an SCI. A deeper understanding of the complex relationship between anatomical changes following SCI, sensorimotor reorganization, and upper limbs function may be helpful for the identification of non-invasive biomarkers, which can quantify the impact of SCI upon the structural integrity, prognosis, and clinical trials for spinal cord repair. A more extensive knowledge of the considerable complexity of the cortical reorganization may help to develop interventions to maximize rehabilitation strategies and resulting functional recovery." @default.
