- W4285255537 abstract "Although the use of pesticides has been steadily increasing over the last few decades, it is now stabilizing. This trend can be explained by the awareness of the environmental problems and health risks associated with the systematic use of these substances and also by the development of new molecules that are effective at low doses. However, interest in pesticide residues analysis has increased due to its importance in different levels such as the protection of human health, food safety, and international trade. Numerous programs to monitor pesticides in environmental and food samples have already been conducted in different countries. However, the large number of pesticides that need to be analyzed is steadily increasing, and generally, the regulated levels that are defined for these compounds are very low. Therefore it has become necessary to develop analytical methodologies for the sensitive determination of pesticide residues at trace levels. This chapter briefly summarizes various analytical methodologies for pesticide residues analysis in water and wastewater. The advantages and drawbacks of conventional and emerging techniques are discussed." @default.
