- W4285267797 abstract "Viral infections continue as the most public health challenges globally representing a significant mortality and mortality rates with an unfavourable socioeconomic impact. The increased and emerging of drug resistant viral strains and their adverse side effects associated with the prolonged use of antiviral drugs have limited the wide use of effective antiviral therapies. This calls for an emergency to develop highly effective and widely available drugs with minimal toxicity to the host cell. Nanomaterials possess unique physicochemical properties have emerged as one of the most promising tools to the treatment of viral infections which may help in addressing the limitations of traditional antiviral drugs. Currently, different types of nanomaterials categorized as organic and inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) were extensively studied either in vitro or in vivo for drug delivery of antiviral agents suggested to be used in clinical practice. In this book chapter we have systematically describe the emerging nanomaterials for antiviral therapeutics; emphasizing on different types of nanomaterials which exhibits as virucidal activity and delivery vehicles for the antiviral drugs such as the inorganic (Metallic NPs) and organic (nanocarriers) nanomaterials." @default.
