- W4285292086 abstract "The choice of optical materials, particularly photoanode, plays an important role in solar to chemical fuel conversion through photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting. Among the selection of photoanode, this chapter discusses the metal sulfides and selenides electrode materials. It highlights their importance, limitations, design of electronic parameters for improved performance, and practical applications towards durable photo(electro)chemical energy conversion purposes. Up till now, no semiconductor so far fully satisfies all the stringent parameters for practical applications. The systematic structural and electronic modulations of these materials lead to a realistic approach to maxime the photoredox activity. This ingenious strategy may introduce novel physical, chemical, and electronic properties. The content receives a lot of attention to engineer suitable defect-rich sulfide and selenide-based photoanode that can deliver efficient and durable photo (electro) chemical energy conversion. This chapter unveils the overwhelming richness of photo (electro) chemical water splitting performance of sulfides and selenides." @default.
