This research integrates the theory of planned behaviour with some important psycho-demographic factors to understand the customers’ purchase behaviour towards the environmental-friendly electronic products. Data was collected using the snowball sampling technique from 577 Indian customers. The results reveal that perceived behavioural control, perceived consumer effectiveness, knowledge about the products and perceived government’s efforts towards supporting green initiatives can improve green purchase intention. Attitude towards green products partially mediates the relationship between knowledge about such products and green purchase intention. Environmental knowledge and awareness partially mediate the relationship between perceived government’s efforts supporting green initiatives and green purchase intention. Green purchase intention is strongly related to green purchase behaviour towards environment-friendly electronic products. Age and income are positively related to green purchase behaviour. The study’s major theoretical contribution is incorporating perceived government efforts, environmental knowledge and attitude and demographic variables into the theory of planned behaviour to predict green purchase behaviour. Empirically, it conceptualizes and tests an integrated model of green purchase behaviour with new insights from an emerging market which is also the test market in the Asian region.
