- W4285308184 abstract "Due to the mixed traffic environment in India, vehicles have different characteristics and there will not be a uniform behavior in the traffic stream. Hence, for the orderly movement of the traffic, speed humps are provided in developing countries like India. Speed humps are constructed according to the guidelines specified in Indian Road Congress 99–2018. The geometric features such as width and height of speed humps are 3.0 m 0.1 m respectively and the vehicles have to negotiate the speed humps at a speed of about 20 kmph. But, from the study it found that the majority of the speed humps are not constructed in accordance with IRC specifications. Most of the speed humps have less width, which results in road accidents due to the instant application of brakes. In addition to the entire traffic is also getting congested, which is responsible for the increase in fuel consumption of the vehicles and automatically increases the overall vehicle operating costs and maintenance costs. The study assessed the dimensions of the existing speed humps in various locations in the urban network. Also, congestion in the traffic stream has been analyzed in the urban network under mixed traffic environment." @default.
