- W4285386719 abstract "Ophthalmology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. In this chapter, we will study the basic structure of eyes, diseases related to eyes, and the role of nanotechnology in their diagnosis and therapy. The eye is a specialized sensory organ composed of three parts: a receptor, sensory path way, and a brain center. Eye diseases and disorders are identified and categorized based on the dif ferent parts of the eye that are affected or infected. Nystagmus is repetitive involuntary movements of one or both eyes. Causes of avoidable blindness are cataract, trachoma, childhood blindness, refractive errors, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy. Glaucoma is characterized by progressive degeneration of retinal ganglion cells, leading to irreversible blindness. The ultimate goal is that nanotechnology-enabled regenerative therapy products will be developed to repair damaged ocular tissues based on an individual patient's conditions for personalized regenerative ophthalmology to improve, preserve and restore vision." @default.
