- W4285554410 abstract "The article considers the change in understanding of the concept of “repentance” during the development of mankind. It has been found that confession has gradually moved away from religious dogmas and that literature has been “appropriated” by literature. It has been established that in the postmodern era, repentance fundamentally changes, losing the sacred meaning of a certain doctrine. Psychologists’ views on the essence of the phenomenon of confession, their disclosure of the intentions of the penitent are given. The beginning of the involvement of Ukrainian writers in repentance to historical texts (a novel in verse “Marusya Churai” (1979) by L. Kostenko and a novel «I, Bogdan» (1983) by P. Zagrebelny) is traced. Attention was drawn to the historical novels of P. Kraliuk (“Six Days, or The Crown of the Ostrozky House”, “Strong and Lonely”, “Danilo Ostrozky: the image that is beated by beads” and “True Mazepa”), which is characterized by such a method of psychology as confession. There are two types of repentance (religious and secular) and the peculiarities of their manifestation in the texts of the author. It is determined that “Six Days” and “Danilo Ostrozky” have a predominantly classical type of confession and their heroes (Vasyl-Konstantin Ostrozky and Danylo Ostrozky) turn to God. Instead, in “Strong and Lonely” and “True Mazepa” the repentance of the heroes (Stepan Bandera, Bohdan Stashynsky and Oksana Vakulenko) prevails, which is directed at another person or at oneself. It is emphasized that literary confession can take the form of a sermon. In the process of analysis, it was found that repentance is an important author’s technique in the reproduction of the historical past. In particular, in “Six Days” confession plays a plot role and helps to deepen the image of the protagonist. It was found that in the historical novel of P. Kraliuk repentance serves to realize a kind of relationship between author and reader. This rite significantly affects the reception of the writer’s works. It is established that the emergence of certain borderline situations stimulates the heroes to resort to confession." @default.
