As they rightly describe, pending further advances in ‘Time Loop’ technology, simulation-based education provides a useful alternative for the RCDP approach. Neuroplasticity is clearly an important component of the learning process. However, in addition to the more individualistic behaviouralist approach described here, we would like to draw attention to the key social constructivist elements of simulation-based education. 4 Hattie J. Central to the plot is a steep learning curve for the hero who endures multiple time loops, stuck between dying in combat and being brought back to life to fight the same battle repeatedly. Finally, by trial-and-error learning, fatal errors in combat are not repeated but corrected in an orderly sequence. ‘Time Loops’ are not currently used by medical Royal Colleges, but clinical simulation training is a well-established educational tool within many medical disciplines, including in anaesthesiology.
