- W4286371323 abstract "The present study reports the investigation on heat transfer enhancement due to the combined effect of coating on heater surface and addition of surfactant to test liquid during saturated pool boiling. It is achieved by TiO2 coating on aluminum heater surface combined with addition of surfactant sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) to different base liquids such as acetone, ethanol, and isopropanol. The experiments were conducted under saturated condition and varying the surfactant concentration between 200 and 1000 ppm. The heat flux is varied within the range 13-65 kW/m2. The pool boiling heat transfer coefficients and surface superheats are determined and analyzed. The pool boiling heat transfer coefficients are found to be increasing with addition of surfactant up to 400 ppm, which is the critical micelle concentration (CMC), and deteriorates beyond the 400 ppm. The enhancement factors are determined, which are the ratios between the pool boiling heat transfer coefficients over coated surface to that of plain surface. Finally, it is realized that the enhancement factors are higher for the lower surfactant concentration irrespective of the base fluid. It decreases as the heat flux increases for a particular surfactant concentration. It is found to be higher for pure liquid and with concentrations of surfactant below 400 ppm. For higher concentrations of surfactant, the enhancement factors are not so significant. However, its value lies in the range of 1.5 to 3 for all combinations of surfactant and base fluid." @default.
