- W4286598081 abstract "Plants have found their therapeutic uses in different platforms of treatment, ranging from Homeopathy to Ayurveda to chemotherapy and even in health supplements. Despite the wide usage and demand of these drugs, many important factors such as the genetic background, quality of the medicinal extract, and growth traits are less studied. This is attributed to the lack of availability of proper resources. However, recent advances in high-throughput sequencing have brought in some advances in this area, which has emerged as the area of “herbal genomics.” Proteomic and metabolomic studies have also shown potential in predicting candidate genes involved in the synthesis of biologically active metabolites in different medicinal plants. Withania, Ginseng, Catharanthus, and several others are being studied using their available “omics” data. This is an emerging area that needs to be well studied to improve the therapeutic use of these plants in improving human health." @default.
