- W4288045709 abstract "Defects of ply wrinkling and bridging are commonly generated within complex-shaped composite components during autoclave processing, which not only seriously affect the dimensional accuracy but also significantly impair the mechanical performance. Due to the time-varying characteristics of ply slippage, the disordered ply slippage process is problematic to control during compaction, and they are nearly unavoidable via processing optimization. Here a region-by-region non-synchronous compaction concept is proposed to prevent the ply wrinkling and bridging by sequentially compacting different regions of the composite component. Based on real-time ply slippage monitoring, specific pressures for stable ply slippage are precisely matched online for each region to actively control the complex slippage process. The concept presented here paves the way for ply slippage control and shows considerable promise to significantly improve the manufacturability of complex-shaped composite components." @default.
