The pH dependance of the non-clicked and clicked quinoxalines were studied using absorbance and fluorescence spectroscopy. Both the ground state and excited state pKa’s were determined by fitting the data to the Henderson–Hasselbalch equation. The protonation site was also investigated by correlating chemical shifts in 1H NMR spectra with the addition of acid. The energies of the frontier molecular orbitals, of the four synthesized quinoxalines, were determined using absorbance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The experimentally obtained values of the frontier molecular orbitals were compared to theoretically obtained values and have good agreement." @default.
