- W4289884038 abstract "Nanotechnology has received a lot of attention from researchers for wastewater treatment as well as resource recovery. Engineered nanoparticles are being studied in various industrial and medical fields around the world due to their unusual thermophysical properties. This chapter covers the fundamentals of nanomaterials which includes nanoparticles, nanofluids and nanocomposites with respect to their application for wastewater treatment. Integration of functionalized nanomaterials in various wastewater treatment technologies: solar desalination, solar stills, membrane filtration and bioelectrochemical system have been discussed. This chapter also briefly discusses the challenges and opportunities of nanomaterials for resource recovery from wastewater. Limitations of such engineered nanomaterials have been briefly covered. There are also suggestions for toxicity standardization for different nanoparticles in wastewater, nanoparticles identification methods, alternative biomarkers for nano-toxicity assessment, and nano-toxicity modulation strategies." @default.
