- W4290729907 abstract "Alternative bimetallic Au/Ag nanoparticles (NPs)-decorated TiO2 nanorods (Au/Ag–TiO2 NRs) has been developed for enhanced photocatalytic degradation of organophosphate pesticides (diazinon, DZN). The morphological characterizations and physical properties of the obtained catalysts were investigated using different techniques. Some influencing factors such as Au0.05-0.4/Ag0.45-3.6 NP (mass ratio of Au or Ag to TiO2) loading, irradiation time, solution pH, catalyst dosage, and DZN initial concentration are investigated in detail. Compared to monometallic Au1–TiO2 and Ag1–TiO2 catalysts, the better catalytic results of optimal Au0.1/Ag0.9-TiO2 catalyst indicate a synergetic effect between Au and Ag in the reaction of DZN degradation under visible light irradiation. The by-products formed during treatment were also identified and quantified using a quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer (QTOF MS) having high-resolution MS/MS spectra capabilities coupled to liquid chromatography (LC) system. The possible mechanism of the photocatalytic degradation process caused by Au0.1/Ag0.9-TiO2 was proposed. Kinetic studies indicated that the photodegradation process follows pseudo-first-order kinetics. The well-matched contact boundary between TiO2 NRs and Au0.1/Ag0.9 NPs might promote separation for the photoinduced electron and hole (e–/h+) pairs. After 5 recycle utilization cycles, there was no evident decline in activity and selectivity for the Au0.1/Ag0.9-TiO2 catalyst, which still maintained its original structure of TiO2 NRs." @default.
