- W4291221481 abstract "This paper investigates the influence of graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) on the mechanical properties of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibre reinforced engineered geopolymer composite (EGC). The proportion of GNP incorporated into the EGC were 0.1%, 0.5% and 1.0% by the weight of geopolymer binder. Mini-slump flow spread, density, compression, uniaxial tension, and four-point bending tests were conducted. It was found that the workability of the EGC matrix decreased up to 15% with the addition of GNP. Also, the compressive strength and density of EGC slightly decreased with the addition of GNP. However, the tensile strain capacity and mid-span deflection at peak load of EGC significantly increased with the addition of GNP. The addition of 0.5% GNP showed the best enhancement effect on the tensile and flexural behaviour of EGC. The tensile strain capacity and mid-span deflection at peak load of EGC with the addition of 0.5% GNP were 69% and 326.1%, respectively, higher than those of EGC without GNP. In addition, scanning electron microscope (SEM) images showed that the abrasions of PVA fibre surface in EGC with the addition of 0.5% GNP were more significant than that in EGC without GNP. This indicated that the bond behaviour between PVA fibre and EGC improved significantly with the addition of 0.5% GNP." @default.
