- W4292403673 abstract "Hg(II) metal in the environment can cause harmful effects to living things and human health. One of the analytical methods that can be used to determine the metal content of Hg(II) in environmental samples is the voltammetric method. The performance of the voltammetric method is primarily determined by the modifier properties of the base material of the working electrode. The compound calix[4]arene can be used as a modifier because it can act as an ionophore in a host-guest system. Therefore, this study aims to synthesize BETAC4ND5 ionophore from p-t-butylcalix[4]arene ethylesteramide. The BETAC4ND5 ionophore is a thioamide compound. The BETAC4ND5 ionophore was obtained by thionation of the amide or p-t-butylcalix[4]arene ethylesteramide with Lawesson’s reagent in dry tetrahydrofuran solvent. The mixture was drained into cold water (-5 οC) and stirred with a magnetic stirrer for 24 hours at room temperature while nitrogen gas was flowing. The product of the amide thionation reaction is p-t-butylcalix[4]arene ethylesterthioamide or the BETAC4ND5 ionophore in the form of a white solid with a yield of 61.23%, mp 328-330 °C and TLC (SiO2, CH3OH: CH2Cl2 = 1 : 1 v/v, Rf = 0.58).The BETAC4ND5 ionophore is a new compound that can be used as a modifier in the working electrode of the voltammetric method to assay Hg(II) metal in environmental samples." @default.
