- W4293382316 abstract "This manuscript presents a non-contact approach to measure the J-integral resistance (J-R) curve for side-grooved specimens using data measured solely from the digital image correlation (DIC). The DIC-based J measurement deploys specified contours and domains on the specimen free surface while the amount of crack extension derives from the rotation factor. The numerical analyses verify the DIC algorithm and investigate the side-grooving effects. This study establishes a fundamental relationship between the free-surface and through-thickness averaged J values, which is evidenced through theoretical and experimental validations. The modified free-surface J-integral achieves good agreement with the through-thickness averaged J results under small-scale yielding conditions. This study demonstrates that side grooves impose trivial effects on the accuracy of the DIC J-R curve measurement." @default.
