- W4293569686 abstract "The structural evolution and magnetic properties of Nd5Ge3-xSix (0 ≤ x ≤ 3) compounds have been investigated. With increasing Si substitution amount, the crystallographic structure of Nd5Ge3-xSix compounds gradually changes from the hexagonal Mn5Si3-type one for x ≤ 1 to the tetragonal Cr5B3-type one for 2.5 ≤ x ≤ 3. For the compounds with the Mn5Si3-type hexagonal structure, the phase transition temperatures are 42 K and 45 K in Nd5Ge2.5Si0.5 and Nd5Ge2Si compounds, and the values of the corresponding maximum magnetic entropy change (− ΔSMmax) are 6.0 Jkg-1 K−1 and 6.0 Jkg-1 K−1 under the field change of 7 T. For the compounds with the Cr5B3-type tetragonal structure, the Curie temperature (Tc) of Nd5Si2.5Ge0.5 is 123 K compared with 112 K of Nd5Si3. For the field change of 7 T, the maximum magnetic entropy change is 3.9 Jkg-1 K−1 of Nd5Ge0.5Si2.5 and 4.3 Jkg-1 K−1 of Nd5Si3 compounds." @default.
