• W4294287029 abstract "Ikääntyvien naapurisuhteita koskeva tutkimus on keskittynyt pääosin siihen, millaista tukea naapurustot tarjoavat ikääntyville asukkailleen. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastelemme ikääntyvien itsensä näkemyksiä ja kokemuksia oman naapurustonsa hyväksi toimimisesta. Kysymme, millä tavoin ikääntyneet vuokrataloasukkaat toimivat naapurustonsa voimavarana ja millaisia reunaehtoja ja haasteita naapuruston voimavarana toimimiseen liittyy. Tutkimusaineistona toimii kahden suurehkon kaupungin vuokrataloissa asuvien 65-73-vuotiaiden henkilöiden laadulliset haastattelut (N=28). Aineisto on analysoitu teemattista sisällönanalyysiä hyödyntäen. Tulosten mukaan ikääntyvien asukkaiden voimavarainen toiminta rakentuu erityisesti seuraavien toimintojen ympärille: 1) läsnäolo ja näkyminen naapurustossa, 2) naapureiden auttaminen ja tukeminen, 3) fyysisestä asuinympäristöstä huolehtiminen sekä 4) asukasaktiivitoiminta. Voimavaraisen toiminnan mahdollistumiseen vaikuttivat puolestaan monet kulttuuriset, yksilölliset sekä fyysiseen ja sosiaaliseen asuinympäristöön liittyvät tekijät. Tutkimuksen tuloksia voidaan hyödyntää ikääntyvien asukkaiden voimavaraisen toiminnan ylläpitämisessä ja tukemisessa yhteiskunnan eri sektoreilla. In this article, however, we examine the ways in which older adults act as a recourse in their own neighbourhood while also mapping the possible preconditions and challenges that may hinder the utilization of this resource. The data consists of qualitative interviews (N=28) carried out among 65-73-year-old residents living in rental apartments of two fairly large Finnish cities. The data were analysed using thematic content analysis. The results show that the older residents act as a resource in the following ways: 1) presence and being seen in the neighbourhood; 2) helping and supporting neighbours; 3) taking care of the physical environment; and 4) participating in the resident activities. The ability to act as a resource was impacted by several cultural and individual factors, as well as factors related to the physical and social environment. The results may be utilized throughout different sectors when aiming to support older residents' ability to act as a resource in their own communities." @default.
