- W4294335670 abstract "Research in the past several years has led to very interesting findings in understanding the roles of various distinct species in sulfur-mediated signaling processes. In some cases, persulfides seem to possess the same type of activities as a sulfide, but with higher potency. However, in studying the detailed molecular events in persulfide-mediated signaling, there are certain unique challenges arising from the highly unstable nature of persulfides. One way to overcome this issue is the development of stable prodrugs, which allow for in situ generation of the desired persulfide species. This chapter summarizes recent development in designing persulfide prodrugs and analyzes their properties and application potentials. Specifically, the chapter include discussions of design principles, release kinetics, release triggers used, and biological activities of various prodrugs." @default.
