Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has its advantage to penetrate through clouds, day-night imaging, all weather conditions and high resolution making it an effective system for crop monitoring, especially during Monsoon Season, as Optical Sensors doesn’t provide cloud free data. Sentinel-1 data has been used in recent studies to map and monitor rice-growing areas. The Sentinel-1 IW GRD data were used to monitor the ricegrowing area over Mahabubnagar District of Telangana State, which was processed in SNAP Software. Few plots were selected by conducting field survey during Kharif 2021. The Radar Vegetation Index (RVI) have been used to monitor the fluctuations in various stages of rice growth. This paper explains how multi temporal SAR observations can be used to monitor rice growing stages, as well as how to interpret σ°VHand σ° VV back scattering co-efficient." @default.
