Moreover, the effect of alumina nanoparticles (ANP) addition in to polymers has been a popular research topic for the last two decades. The tribological behaviour of polymer composites is one of the essential characteristic that should not be neglected when the material is supposed to face foreign material interaction in its service life. This article thus investigates the wear behaviour of post-cured epoxy-based composites comprising randomly oriented discontinuous carbon fiber (RODCF) with Alumina Nanoparticles (ANP) as filler. Initially, the morphology of the ANP and RODCF was observed using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and the scanning electron microscope (SEM), respectively. The experimentation of the tribological analysis was conducted on the pin-on-disc testing apparatus. The load applied to the sample was about 50 N, and the disc's rotational speed was kept at 1000 RPM. The wear test was conducted for 1260 s. It was observed that the inclusion of 2 parts per resin by weight (phr) of ANP in the RODCF/epoxy composite increases the wear resistance of the composite sample considering the existing testing environment, time and material fabrication methodology. Worn-out surface analysis done using the SEM micrograph showed coherence with the pin-on-disc test results. Significant findings of the study are discussed in the article." @default.
