- W4297174702 abstract "In the current work, film cooling of NASA-C3X turbine vane is investigated numerically. The mainstream temperature is maintained 1500 °C whereas coolant is injected at a temperature of 500 °C. The pressure ratio of secondary injection to the mainstream is maintained 1.15 based on the operating conditions of the gas turbine. The secondary fluid is injected in both forward and reverse direction to the mainstream flow. The effect of coolant injection angle on the film cooling effectiveness is investigated for both reverse and forward orientation by varying inclination angle from 30° to 60° on the pressure side and from 35° to 75° for the suction side of the vane. The film cooling effectiveness obtained from the forward and reverse injection is compared at the investigated cooling hole inclination angle. It is found that the lateral spread of the cooling air is more uniform for the reverse orientation as compared to the forward orientation of the cooling hole. Hot patches on the surface of vane are observed for the forward injection." @default.
