- W4297174959 abstract "The retaining ring in turbogenerators is used to constrain the end windings and blockings safely. It is shrunk onto the rotor shaft at four essential shrink-fit locations as per the design requirements. The shrink-fit gaps must be optimized during the design cycle to ensure a predefined value of low-cycle fatigue. The use of high-fidelity finite element models to optimize the shrink-fit dimensions is a computationally expensive task, as it requires multiple iterations. In this paper, we use the multivariate distance matrix regression technique to identify dominant predictors (shrink-fit design parameters) associated with the shrink-fit stresses at different locations. Furthermore, identified predictors are then used to estimate a computationally inexpensive surrogate model for predicting stresses in the retaining ring. Our results suggest that the low-fidelity computationally inexpensive surrogate models of different complexities can accurately predict the pattern of the stresses at the chosen shrink-fit locations." @default.
