When surfactant is added continuously to a liquid, it will form an aggregate of particles called micelles which are formed when the surfactant reaches the point of Critical Micelle Concentration (CMC). The formation of micelles is one solution to increase the solubility of Pharmaceutical Active Substances that enter BCS class II because it can interact with non-polar groups on micelles so that micellar solubilization events will occur which can increase the effectiveness of treatment of a pharmaceutical preparation, so that the determination of the CMC value becomes It is very important to determine how much surfactant should be added to increase the solubility of the active pharmaceutical substance. Based on the description above, the formulation of the problem from this research are: (1) What is the method that can be used to determine the CMC value of surfactants? (2) How does the CMC value affect the solubility of active pharmaceutical substances in water? The research method used is based on article reviews obtained from Google Scholar. The result of this research is that the method that can be used to determine the surfactant CMC value is the surface tension and refractive index method, then the addition of surfactant above its CMC point is proven to increase the solubility of the active pharmaceutical substance.&#x0D; Abstrak. Surfaktan merupakan bahan tambahan yang sering digunakan dalam dunia farmasi karena sifatnya yang memiliki dua gugus polar dan non polar dalam struktur yang sama. Bila surfaktan ditambahkan terus menerus kedalam suatu cairan maka akan terbentuk suatu agregat partikel yang bernama misel yang terbentuk saat surfaktan mencapai titik Konsentrasi Misel Kritik (KMK). Pembentukan misel ini menjadi salah satu solusi untuk meningkatkan kelarutan dari Zat Aktif Farmasi yang masuk kedalam BCS kelas II karena dapat berinteraksi dengan gugus non polar pada misel sehingga akan terjadi peristiwa solubilisasi miselar yang dapat meningkatkan efektifitas pengobatan dari suatu sediaan farmasi, sehingga penentuan nilai KMK menjadi sangat penting untuk menentukan seberapa banyak surfaktan yang harus ditambahkan untuk meningkatkan kelarutan zat aktif farmasi. Berdasarkan uraian diatas, maka rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) Bagaimana metode yang dapat dilakukan untuk menentukan nilai KMK dari Surfaktan? (2) Bagaimana pengaruh Nilai KMK pada kelarutan zat aktif farmasi dalam air?. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah berbasis review artikel yang didapatkan dari Google Scholar. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah metode yang dapat digunakan untuk menentukan nilai KMK surfaktan adalah metode tegangan permukaan serta indeks bias, kemudian penambahan surfaktan diatas titik KMK nya terbukti dapat meingkatkan kelarutan dari zat aktif farmasi." @default.
