He was graduated from Oxford University, where he specialized in Mohammedan philosophy and Oriental languages, with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. He spent three years in Turkey, Syria, Arabia and Mesopotamia, and was brought into close personal contact with the Caliph, Mustapha Kemal, Ismet Pasha, Talaat. Pasha, Djemal Bey, and with a number of men and women of princely rank. He organized the Boy Scout movement in various parts of Turkey and presided at examinations in schools for Moslem boys and girls. The rank of Bey and Bedouin Sheik were conferred upon him. He has published many articles on the Near Bast, including interviews with Turkish notables.–Ed.
