- W4298346937 abstract "Fossil fuels are rapidly depleting due to incremental rate of consumption with significant anthropogenic environmental damage, so that conserving fossil fuel or planning to meet future energy demand is essential. It is time to switch over to the alternate source of energy, which is a challenge because most of the alternate fuels cannot be stored and are not available all the time. The alternate fuel should be easy to handle and available all the time. Nowadays, wastes such as agricultural waste, biowaste and industrial waste can be generated from different human activities. The effective way to convert these wastes to useful energy is briquettes. The waste biomass briquette is a potential source to meet the present energy demand; it will reduce the formation of greenhouse gases, when the wastes were decay. Agricultural wastes are the major part of biomass, which can be effectively used as a fuel for various applications. Hence in this present work, analyses have been conducted with different feedstock briquettes. Sesame stalk and maize cob are used to produce briquettes with glycerol as a binder, which is a waste product from the biodiesel production. The briquette properties are tested such as proximate, ultimate and mechanical properties analysis. Further, producer gas is generated and its analysis is made. It has been concluded that waste biomass briquette has higher calorific value than the raw waste biomass. The producer gas quality is improved and its yield rate is high at 700°C. The producer gas generated from briquette is directly used in a compression ignition engine with slight modification." @default.
