Many researchers are focusing on the new alternative fuel to meet the world's rising energy demand, which reduces the usage of fossil fuels. Agriculture waste and other wastes are the most promising resources due to their attractive physiochemical properties and their ability to convert into useful fuel in the form of three phases (i.e., gas, solid, and liquid). Agricultural and other biomass wastes are abundantly available. Agricultural residues like cereal, pluses, and maize waste can be converted into biofuel or biooil through a thermo-chemical or biochemical process. In this present work, the biomass/agro waste is converted into solid briquette, and the briquette is then subjected to thermal cracking process to produce various useful products such as bio-oil/liquid, gas and biochar. The bio-oil is characterized and suitability of fuel in CI engine and other products are also analyzed through identifying with various chemical compounds present in it. There is an increase in the calorific value of briquettes, providing higher yield of bio-oil. The combustion characteristics of briquettes have superior properties, which make them more suitable for various industrial applications. It is also found from the result that bio-oil derived from briquettes has excellent properties compared to waste biomass and it can be substituted as fuel in a compression ignition engine." @default.
