All these hosts are new for this taxon. The prevalence, average intensity and abundance of infestations were greater in G. platei, B. bullocki and A. zebra. The infrapopulation of Stephanostomum sp. showed a slight overdispersion in its hosts. Considerable histopathological changes are described in the liver parenchyma of G. maculatus and the possibility of some fish from the Valdivia basin, possibly of marine origin, being the end hosts for Stephanostomum sp. is considered. Resumen Entre marzo de 1986 y septiembre de 1987 se examinaron 949 peces recolectados en distintos sectores de la cuenca del río Valdivia (entre 39°30′‐40°00′S, 73°30′‐71°45′W), demostrándose por primera vez en Chile la presencia de metacercarias de Stephanostomum sp. en el mesenterio y/o hígado de Brachigalaxias bullocki, Galaxias platei, Galaxias maculatus, Aplochiton zebra y Cheirodon australe pero no en Trichomycterus areolatus, Gambusia affinis holbrooki, Salmo trutta y Salmo gairdneri , estas tres últimas introducidas en Chile. Todos los hospedadores son nuevos para este taxón. La prevalencia, intensidad media y abundancia de las infecciones fueron mayores en G. platei, B. bullocki y A. zebra. La infrapoblación de Stephanostomum sp. presentó escasa sobredispersión en sus hospedadores. Se describen serias alteraciones histopatológicas en el parénquima hepático de G. maculatus y se plantea la posibilidad que algunos peces de la cuenca del río Valdivia, de posible origen marino, sean los hospedadores definitivos para Stephanostomum sp. Präsenz von Metazerkarien der Gattung Stephanostomum (Digenea: Acanthocolpidae) in Fischen Zwischen März 1986 und September 1987 wurden 949 Fische, die in verschiedenen Bereichen des Valdiviabeckens (zwischen 39°30′‐40°00′S, 73°30′‐71°45′W) gesammelt wurden, untersucht. Dabei wurde erstmalig in Chile die Präsenz von Metazerkarien von Stephanostomum sp. im Mesenterium und/oder Leber von Brachigalaxias bullocki, Galaxias platei, Galaxias maculatus, Aplochiton zebra und Cheirodon australe festgestellt, aber nicht in Trichomycterus areolatus, Gambusia affinis holbrooki, Salmo trutta und Salmo gairdneri; bei diesen drei letzten handelt es sich um nach Chile eingeführte Spezies. Alle diese Wirte sind neu für dieses Taxon. Die Prävalenz, mittlere Intensität und Abundanz der Infestationen waren größer bei G. platei, B. bullocki und A. zebra. Die Infrapopulation von Stephanostomum sp. wies eine knappe überdispersion in ihren Wirten auf. Im Leberparenchym von G. maculatus werden beachtliche histopathologische Veränderungen beschrieben, und es wird die Möglichkeit erwogen, daß einige Fische des Valdiviabeckens, möglicherweise maritimen Ursprungs, die Endwirte für Stephanostomum sp. sind." @default.
