- W4301824871 abstract "There are numerous gaseous pollutants that damage the environment. They threaten the sustainable development, and finding ways to remove or eliminate them is important. Methods described in the literature to abate these pollutants are absorption, adsorption, scrubbing, biodegradation, thermal incineration, and catalytic degradation. Adsorption and catalytic degradation have shown outstanding results when they are employed with geopolymers. Geopolymers are nonordered three-dimensional aluminosilicates formed by silicate and aluminate units joined by common oxygen atoms where cations, dispersed through the entire structure, balance the charge of the framework. This chemical structure provides geopolymers thermal stability, chemical resistance, mechanical strength, and acidic properties, which are suitable for the abovementioned purposes. In this chapter, we summarize the main factors and properties of geopolymers in catalytic air pollution control applications." @default.
