- W4304183794 abstract "Neuropsychological study of various perceptual and mnemonic skills involved in spatial cognition may be useful in addressing two main issues. One concerns the functional organization of the brain in mediating spatial cognition—knowledge which is essential for understanding how the brain serves as the substrate which mediates spatial cognition. Other concerns how neuropsychological studies may be used to delineate the subcomponents of spatial cognition and their interrelationships. Although early neuropsychological studies were, of necessity, based on the assessment of populations of brain damaged individuals, there are now methods available which make it possible to study the neural substrate of spatial perception in normal children. In general, the results of studies of spatial perception and cognition with both brain damaged and normal children provide evidence that the right hemisphere is specialized for these functions early in life, possibly even from birth." @default.
