- W4304893297 abstract "Urban flooding has become recurring phenomenon in cities around the world. Present study was conducted in context of recent urban flooding in Hyderabad. The study examined influence of stress and self-efficacy on positive growth due to urban flooding. Measures of level of stress, general self-efficacy and post traumatic growth (PTG) were given to 303 residents in flood affected localities of Hyderabad. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, multiple regression and hierarchical regression modelling were used to analyse the data. Analysis revealed that stress (0.125, p < 0.05) and self-efficacy (0.266, p < 0.01) was positively correlated with PTG while stress was negatively correlated with self-efficacy (−0.292, p < 0.01). The correlations matrix showed significant relations between the variables and sub components of PTG i.e., new possibilities, relating to others, personal strength, spiritual change, and appreciation of life. Multiple regression analysis brought out stress (β = 1.15, p < 0.01) and self-efficacy (β = 1.53, p < 0.01) as significant predictors of PTG. A hierarchical regression analysis showed that self-efficacy (F = 25.193, p < 0.01) followed by stress (F = 15.51, p < 0.01), accounted for significant variance in experience of positive growth after urban flooding. On the basis of findings, need for investigating the possibilities of facilitating positive growth environment to assist in disaster recovery processes is highlighted." @default.
