Unlike the velocity or frequency attributes, amplitude value is the representation of the returned voltage as a data point, which cannot be compared with other instrumentations because the recordable dynamic range of each instrumentation is different. Amplitude normalization that turns the amplitude into a compatible attribute is therefore needed. The proposed method considers the recordable dynamic range of the instrumentations. In this preliminary study, intact concrete specimens were used for benchmarking. A scaling factor for bridging different instrumentations was obtained by using intact specimens as references. Result shows that the amplitude normalization between the instrumentations was successful.
