- W4306292387 abstract "AbstractCooling towers are equipment used for removing heat from the water as a working medium and displacing it to the environmental air. The efficiency of such a wet cooling tower with forced air flow depends, among other factors, on the contact surface area between air and water. The flow of air is determined by the fan speed and the inlet conditions of the air. In this paper, the distribution of air in a cooling tower of a power plant is determined in numerical simulations of the airflow through the cooling tower. Inlet conditions of the air are determined by measurements and the numerical results reproduced the measured pressure drop across the height of the cooling tower. The results reveal a zone in the cooling tower with a non-uniform air distribution, which is attributed to the improper inlet conditions for the air. Also, the presence of recirculating air is shown in the cooling tower rain zone, which affects the cooling tower heat exchange capacity.KeywordsWet cooling towerForced draftMeasurementNumerical modeling" @default.
