- W4306998580 abstract "One of the most studied flow assurance issues in oil and gas systems is gas hydrate deposition. Gas hydrates form when water and gas molecules are combined at low temperature and relatively high pressures. They then adhere to the pipe walls to cause severe blockages, leading to production loss and costly maintenance. Gas hydrate formation is affected by pressure, temperature, hydrodynamics, and the composition of both hydrocarbons and water phases. This chapter discusses the mechanisms of gas hydrate formation and the factors affecting them. In addition to gas hydrates, another cagelike molecule, diamondoid, recently has been under the microscope as another flow assurance problem in oil and gas production systems. Dimondoids were also extensively studied due to unique properties that enable their medical and industrial uses. The diamondoids’ mechanism of formation and the factors affecting it are also examined in this chapter." @default.
