A nanomagnetic graphene oxide/magnetite/L-cysteine (GO/Fe 3 O 4 /Cys) adsorbent has been developed for the solid-phase extraction of silver from an aqueous solution. First, a GO sample was prepared by the Hummers method, and then it was magnetized via the co-precipitation method and modified with L-cysteine. The nanomagnetic adsorbent was characterized by Raman spectroscopy, UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The formation of a graphene oxide layer, the quality of the atomic bonds in the composite phases, and the corresponding magnetic properties were investigated. The adsorption ability of the nanomagnetic adsorbent was checked at different pH values, and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model provided a more accurate description of the adsorption kinetic than the pseudo-first-order model. The results followed the Langmuir model, and the best performance was observed in pH 7.2 with the adsorption of 666.67 mg silver per gram of the adsorbent." @default.
