- W4308148116 abstract "On behalf of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (JPharmSci®) editorial team, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the Guest Editors for their exceptional assistance in soliciting and selecting papers for the Raj Suryanarayanan (Sury) Dedicated Issue of JPharmSci®. The Guest Editors were Dr. Paroma Chakravarty (Genentech, Inc.); Dr. Alekha Dash (Creighton University); Dr. Evgenyi Shalaev (Abbvie); Dr. Calvin Sun (University of Minnesota); Dr. Seema Thakral (Boehringer Ingelheim); and Dr. Geoff Zhang (Abbvie). A very special thanks and recognition for Drs. Thakral and Dash for serving as the Co-Lead Guest Editors and coordinating the development and finalization of the issue with the editorial office. The collection of articles in this issue is an appropriate tribute for the significant contributions of Professor Sury to the advancement of the pharmaceutical sciences and specifically for his impact on our understanding the complexity of and the advancement the science of physical characterization and analysis of pharmaceuticals and their formulations. The manuscripts submitted to the journal for this dedicated JPharmSci® issue are reflective of the very positive responses the guest editors received from their invitations to Professor Sury's former graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, visiting scientists, research collaborators, colleagues and friends. Obviously, Professor Sury is held in high regard amongst not only students and close colleagues but pharmaceutical scientists from around the world for his influences as both an educator and a researcher. We would encourage you to read the commentary co-authored by the Guest Editors as it captures some details of Professor Sury's personal background, his education, and his professional journey as researcher in the pharmaceutical sciences. By their observations, Professor Sury is notable as a pharmaceutical scientist for a very focused interest in solid-state pharmaceuticals, frozen and freeze-dried systems, amorphous pharmaceuticals and solid dispersions, formulations of protein-based macromolecules and interactions with excipients, and use of a wide variety of analytical tools, methodologies, and measures for characterizing pharmaceuticals. Congratulations to Professor Sury! We are proud to present our readers with the outstanding collection of articles within this dedicated issue. The Raj Suryanarayanan (Sury) Dedicated Issue of JPharmSci® is a compelling and fitting tribute to the very enduring and significant contributions of Professor Sury to the pharmaceutical sciences. Unquestionably, also an affirmation for recognizing Professor Raj Suryanarayanan (Sury) as one of the “TRUE GIANTS” in the pharmaceutical sciences. The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper." @default.
