- W4308178791 abstract "Due to the booming of portable electronic devices, thin vapor chambers (TVCs) have been used to effectively transfer high heat flux in narrow space. In this study, various-layer singular meshes and multilayer composite mesh whose thicknesses are below 0.4 mm are developed by electrical resistance welding. For improving the thermal performance of TVCs, the various-layer singular mesh wicked TVCs are investigated to reveal the effects of mesh layer (mesh thickness) and mesh number (effective capillary radius of pores) on the thermal performance of TVCs, and the multilayer composite mesh wicked TVC is also studied as a comparison. The results show that the thermal performance of various-layer singular mesh wicked TVCs is mainly dependent on effective capillary radius along height direction and mesh thickness. Among the mesh wicks whose thicknesses are below 0.12 mm, the mesh wick with a larger thickness and smaller effective capillary radius can enhance the thermal performance of TVCs. The multilayer composite mesh wick with larger pores on top of smaller pores can improve the thermal performance of TVCs with 0.4 mm-thick mesh wick. In addition, three-layer 350 in-1 singular mesh wicked TVC shows the best performance, the maximum heat transfer capacity is 240 W and the lowest thermal resistance is 0.115 K/W." @default.
