- W4308221232 abstract "Shooting Incident Reconstruction (SIR), while a section of crime scene investigation and reconstruction, is a highly diverse area of investigation in and of itself. Many would think that it consists simply of sticking trajectory rods (probes) into bullet holes, but that would be a mistake. In fact, even those that would proceed into the field with minimal training assuming that it is simply a rod-in-hole exercise is likely to make significant mistakes. This article will first look at the history of SIR, followed by an examination of the basics of trajectory reconstruction and assessment. It will conclude with an examination of many additional aspects of SIR to include trace evidence, damage assessments, wound ballistics, long range trajectory basics, and chemical testing." @default.
