Similarly, three parameters have been suggested that combine two or three hot deformation variables; X=ɛ̇ɛn, W=ɛexp(Q′/RT), and Y=ɛ̇ɛnexp(Q/RT), where ɛ is strain, n is strain hardening exponent, and Q′=Q/n. Twelve empirical models are proposed in which flow stress is modeled as a linear and nonlinear (quadratic and cubic) polynomial function of each of four composite variables. Four sample data sets from the literature on hot-deformation of different alloys were used to assess the prediction accuracy of these models. Unlike previous models, the multivariate fitting does not require a reference temperature or strain rate and requires considerably less computational time. When flow stress is given as a function of parameter Y, the entire hot-deformation behavior may be represented by a single curve. Nonlinear models performed better than linear models, while models that characterized flow stress as a function of X and W performed better than models that used parameters Z and Y.
