• W4308491029 abstract "Bosworth fracture (BF) is a special type of ankle fracture-dislocation, characterized by displacement of a fragment of the fractured fibula from the fibular notch behind the posterior surface of the distal tibia. The eponym Bosworth fracture refers to David March Bosworth (1897–1979), who, in 1947, described 5 cases of this injury. Over the next 20 years, BFs were recorded only by North American authors. The first European case was described as late as in 1989. Essential for understanding the BF pathoanatomy was CT, used for the first time in 1995. This technology has obviously improved diagnosis of this injury, with only 49 cases reported until 2007 as compared to 126 cases recorded during the next 15 years. Analysis of these cases has shown that BF is a severe type of ankle fracture-dislocation associated with a number of serious complications, which will require further investigation. Die Bosworth-Fraktur (BF) ist eine spezielle Form der Luxationsfraktur am oberen Sprunggelenk mit Dislokation der distalen Fibula aus der Inzisur und hinter die Tibia. Das Eponym Bosworth-Fraktur geht zurück auf David March Bosworth (1897–1979), welcher im Jahre 1947 fünf Fälle dieser Verletzung beschrieben hatte. Während der folgenden 20 Jahre wurden BF ausschließlich von nordamerikanischen Autoren beschrieben, während die erste Beschreibung aus Europa in einem Fallbericht von 1989 erfolgte. Für das Verständnis der Pathoanatomie der BF war die CT, erstmals hierfür beschrieben 1995, entscheidend. Diese Technologie hat offensichtlich die Diagnose der BF inklusive häufiger Begleitverletzungen, deutlich verbessert. Dies wird deutlich an lediglich 49 berichteten Fällen bis 2007, während allein in den vergangenen 15 Jahren 126 Fälle festgehalten wurden. Die historische und aktuelle Analyse zeigt, dass die BF eine schwere Form der Sprunggelenk-Luxationsfraktur mit zahlreichen Komplikationsmöglichkeiten darstellt, welche eine weitere wissenschaftliche Aufarbeitung verdienen." @default.
